Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky were cognitive scientists known for their work on how we make judgments and decisions. Understanding this work is important both for modeling decision-making and for influencing decisions. It is important as a defense mechanism to understand how others are attempting to influence our decisions. For example, the people that advise political campaigns and the people who are trying to sell us things use tricks they’ve learned from the work of Kahneman and Tversky and their followers. Kahneman won the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in 2002 for his work in behavioral economics. One of his most famous books is Thinking, Fast and Slow.
